Dr. Elbuluk studied at Princeton University before earning his medical degree at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He returned to New York for five years of orthopaedic surgery training at the Hospital for Special Surgery — the hospital where modern joint replacement was substantially invented, and where the volume and complexity of cases is unlike almost anywhere else in the country.

He then completed a fellowship in adult joint reconstruction at UC San Diego, training specifically in high-volume hip and knee arthroplasty, complex revision surgery, and periprosthetic joint infection. Since finishing fellowship he has practiced hip and knee replacement in the Pacific Northwest, and is now bringing that practice to Los Angeles.

He is an active clinical researcher, with peer-reviewed publications on joint replacement technique, alignment strategy, technology in knee arthroplasty, and the economics of how joint replacement is delivered. That research habit shows up in the exam room as a bias toward evidence over enthusiasm — including a willingness to tell you that you don't need surgery yet.
